"Melbourne musician Josh Simons has enjoyed national radio airplay and more than a million streams for his band, Buchanan, but when it came to finding the right players to hit the road he realised he needed the muso's equivalent of the Tinder dating app." --The Age, May 2016
Josh & Baz knew they were in good hands with regards to an iOS implementation, given that one of the largest app communities in the world were using our Typhoon framework to power their dating app. However, with regards to the backend we saw a number of interesting new challenges ahead. . .
Our mathematically-minded senior consultant, Ivan Zezyulya, directed us towards Neo4j, which is a graph database. Neo4j made it easy for us to capture candidate information and then evolve meaningful insights based on, as yet, unknown criteria.
Coupled with Neo4j we used an object to graph mapping (OGM) tool with professional support from our new friends at GraphAware. The OGM tool further facilitated rapid innovation - it allowed us to take code in the direction of new requirements, without having to attend to tedious boiler-plate concerns. When we were ready to put the app into production, the tool supported the incorporation of custom queries in order to achieve performance goals and massive scale.
